The Florida State Seminoles, closing at the last minute, signed the top class of the 2000-01 football recruiting campaign. Michigan, LSU, Texas, Miami-Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Washington, UCLA and Clemson round out the Top 10 (Class Rankings).

UCLA has added tight end Marcedes Lewis of Long Beach-Poly, Cal. The Bruins earlier verballed defensive lineman Kevin Harbour of Los Angeles-Loyola, Cal.
LSU gained running back-receiver prospect Skyler Green of New Orleans-Higgins, La., who played quarterback as a junior. Offensive lineman Garrett Wibel of New Orleans-Archbishop Rummel, La. earlier committed to the Tigers.
Colorado has its second junior verbal in offensive lineman Jack Tipton of Arvada-Pomona, Colo., who was drawing interest from Washington, Oregon, Purdue, Northwestern, USC and Colorado State.
Defensive back/receiver Tyler Littlehales of Boulder, Colo., earlier chose the Buffs.

Senior tight end Kolo Kapanui of Honolulu-Kamehameha, Hawaii, has committed to the USC Trojans. Linebacker Marvin Simmons of Long Beach-Poly, Cal., who decommitted from UCLA, is expected to sign with the Trojans once he is cleared by the admissions department after recently qualifing.
Receiver Chavez Donnings of Butler County CC, Kan., has signed with South Carolina and has his mother's signature on the letter of intent. He earlier signed with Kansas State, but his mother would not co-sign.
Quarterback Gino Guidugli of Fort Thomas-Highlands, Ky., has not signed after committing to Kentucky. He is now considering the Wildcats and Notre Dame and is expected to announce his decision on Mar. 7.

Early Period Rankings:
Over 1000 student-athletes have signed basketball scholarships during the Early Signing Period: Men/Women. The ACC and Pac-10 dominated the recruiting battle with DePaul and Florida leading the Class 2001 Preliminary Rankings, followed by North Carolina, UCLA, Arizona and North Carolina State. Other outstanding classes include Michigan State, Kansas, California, Missouri, Stanford, Georgia Tech and Memphis.
Ninety-one Top 100 Prospects made their college choices. Pac-10 and ACC schools have 17, while the SEC has 14. While the three conferences have separated themselves from the rest of the recruiting pack, the Big Ten (11), Conference USA (10), Big East (9) and Big 12 (8) have done well. The Atlantic-10 (2), Mountain West (2) and Sun Belt (1) also have top standouts. The Missouri Tigers and
Georgia Tech have five top prospects. UCLA, Arizona and
North Carolina State have four. Programs with three include DePaul,
Florida,
Kentucky,
North Carolina and Stanford.
